Albertsons UX Research

This project placed a sharp focus on usability testing and workflow assessment,

as it sought to optimize the Albertsons Benefits Portal's performance within the

Oracle platform.

Challenge

The internal Oracle HCM platform at Albertsons was difficult to navigate and lacked clarity in key workflows like onboarding, benefits enrollment, and approvals. Our goal: uncover usability pain points and recommend improvements to drive efficiency and satisfaction.

 

 

My Contributions

  • User Interviews: HR professionals, new hires, and managers

  • Conducted Heuristic Evaluation: Evaluated UI using usability principles

  • Facilitated Remote User Testing: Task-based tests across multiple workflows

  • Synthesized Research into Insights: Mapped key themes and recommendations

  • Designed Executive Summary Deck: Visual storytelling + branded presentation for stakeholders

Process Overview

Supported the testing team by facilitating tests and synthesizing findings. I provided insights into the current state of the Oracle HCM platform and served as an SME for the testing team. I also collaborated with UX researchers to create compelling content and design the final readout deck.

User Interviews

Conducted 6+ semi-structured interviews.


Top findings:

Heuristic Evaluation

Audited workflows using Nielsen’s principles.


Common issues:

  • Lack of system visibility
     

  • Redundant menu labels
     

  • Cognitive load in form tasks

Remote Usability Testing

Observed 4 users completing high-impact tasks.

Reflection

This project reinforced my strengths in user research, visual communication, and collaboration across departments. By combining clear insights with high-quality visual storytelling, we created alignment and momentum toward a better user experience.
